Wide electrical feedback angle potentiometer for use in appliance or automotive controls

Airbags have been designed to help protect adults in a moderate to severe frontal collision. To do this, the passenger’s front airbag is quite large, and it can inflate with enough force to cause very serious injuries.
There are conditions where the automatic shut off feature will not completely insure safety (seat too far forward, small child in a car seat), there could be a need to manually disarm the passeger sode airbag.

Even though the vehicle  may include an advanced front airbag system that automatically turns the passenger’s front airbag off, all manufacturers offer a manual cutoff system for an additional measure of safety.
These manual systems are typically activated or deactivated by turning them using the vehicle´s  ignition key.

Piher has developed a rotary switch that seamlessly adapts to these systems and reliably actuates the transition between the “on” and “off” states. 

Open loop current sensor that generates a ratiometric analog output voltage signal proportional to the current flowing through the conductor.

Based on Hall effect technology the sensor has been designed for accurate measurement of currents in automotive battery management and motor control applications.

Multifunction potentiometer - encoder - switch for appliances.

The DCM-PTT potentiometer offers sturdiness, performance and adaptability where frequent human-machine-interface adjustment is required.

Its robust design allows for employment of different mechanisms, such as a selecting a program/function in your dishwasher or setting the temperature of a cooktop.  

Different ouptput choices are available (incremental encoder-pulse, rotary switch, absolute-analog potentiometer) and safety measures such as push-to-turn.

Detent number, connectors, mounting flanges, tact switch function and other features can be studied upon request.  

Typical applications include consumer electronics, ovens and other kitchen appliances, white and brown goods, automotive HVACR and personal care control panels.

Piher’s High Speed Inductive Position Sensor are used by hybrid/electric vehicles powertrain systems to feedback the angular position, direction and speed of the rotor shaft to optimize control of the motor inverter.

The position sensor can be mounted on the same shaft as the electric machine rotor and sensing its position accurately is critical in order to drive the motor optimally by the vehicle’s control unit.

This solution provides high speed rotary motion sensing with a robust design against external magnetic interference fields generated from sources such as electric motors.

It uses the physical principles of induction in a wire loop and eddy currents to detect the position of a solid metallic structure that is sliding or rotating above a set of coils consisting of one transmitter coil and two receiver coils.

This sensor provides a perfect fit for preferential use in space constraint applications.

Despite its lightweight and miniature size of only 21mm., this hall effect sensor delivers high performance with up to 360º electrical angle (without dead zone), 12bit resolution, extended life and EMI & ESD protection.
