ARC Motor Rotor Position Sensor
Motor position sensors for accurate xEV motor commutation
Accurate feedback on the rotor shaft’s angular position, direction and speed is essential for optimizing motor inverter control and maximizing motor efficiency. Precise absolute rotor position information also enables accurate motor commutation, supporting smooth torque delivery and dynamic motor control across the full operating speed range.
With lower weight, smaller dimensions, immunity to stray fields, rare-earth-free construction and comparatively lower cost, inductive high-speed eRPS eMotor Rotor Position Sensors offer a compelling alternative to encoders and resolvers.
Based on the proven principles of electromagnetic induction and eddy-current sensing, the technology detects the position of a conductive rotor target without requiring magnets or mechanical contact. This enables reliable operation at very high rotational speeds, excellent resistance to electromagnetic interference, and consistent performance despite air-gap variations, misalignment, vibration, and demanding environmental conditions.
The ability to customize the sensor to specific motor dimensions provides greater flexibility in the development of next-generation electric and hybrid powertrains. Its advanced non-contact sensing principle ensures precise output, while its rugged construction is designed for the toughest environments.
